Speech and language therapists offered grants for stammer research

The Stammer Trust has announced that it will provide grants for speech and language therapists to carry out treatment and research around the UK.
Grants can be used to cover the cost of equipment, training or attending conferences.
People working in a speech therapy job who want to improve their skills and qualifications may find the financial aid useful.
Up to £250 can be awarded to individuals, with a total fund of £1,000 available to those working with stammer patients.
According to the Stammer Trust, approximately 450,000 people in the UK are affected by a stammer.
The organisation noted that working with a speech therapist can often help adults suffering from stammering to deal with their condition and improve their fluency when speaking.
Applicants seeking a grant from the trust need to apply in writing by October 1st 2010 and explain how they intend to use the money and if part-funding of a project is required, they will also have to show how they will generate the rest of the money they need.
