A&E medic to head to Afghanistan

A staff nurse working in the accident and emergency (A&E) department at Rochdale Infirmary is set to spend three months working in Afghanistan.
Rochdale Online revealed that Maxine Simpson will head off to the Middle East country as part of the Territorial Army (TA) 207 Field Hospital medical team.
She will spend three months working in Camp Bastion alongside other medical professionals from around the UK.
Ms Simpson told the news provider that she hopes to gain more experience during her time abroad.
"I'm looking forward to the whole experience and expect to gain lots of clinical experience whilst I am out in the Bastion Hospital," she stated.
Hospital doctors and other people working in UK medical jobs may also be interested in spending a few months at an army hospital to gain further experience.
Approximately 1,200 TA troops are deployed each year to provide support to the armed forces in locations such as Iraq, Afghanistan and the Balkans.
