Survey 'could lead to new pharmacy jobs'

People living in Cumbria are being asked to complete a survey about the pharmacy services on offer in the area.
The Lakeland Echo revealed that the outcome of the results could lead to the creation of more pharmacies, providing more pharmacy jobs in the area, if respondents feel that they do not have access to a pharmacy or dispensary near their home.
NHS Cumbria will publish the findings from its study next year in a paper entitled a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment.
As well as asking local residents about whether there are enough pharmacies in the area, the survey will ask whether they would like to see additional services offered by their community pharmacies.
Dr Rebecca Wagstaff, NHS Cumbria's deputy director of public health, urged people to participate in the research.
"I'd encourage as many people as possible to share their views on pharmacy so we can continue to ensure that there is enough pharmacy provision across Cumbria and that it's in the right place," she told the newspaper.
In other pharmacy news, the Department of Health has issued a consultation which could see community pharmacies in England required to obtain a license in order to offer NHS services, the Pharmaceutical Journal reported.
