Refer an Cardiac Physiologist

A new study has revealed that performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) using chest compressions without mouth resuscitation is effective.
The findings of the team from the US were published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
After studying almost 2,000 patients, the researchers concluded that there was "no significant difference" in terms of survival to hospital discharge between the patients who received CPR with rescue breathing and those who were just administered chest compressions at the time of cardiac arrest.
The authors of the report concluded that their findings "support a strategy for CPR performed by laypersons that emphasises chest compression and minimises rescue breathing".
People working in UK cardiac jobs may find the research of interest, although all of the patients in the study suffered cardiac arrest out of hospital.
A further report published in the same journal this month, which was conducted by Swedish researchers, came to the same conclusion after comparing 30-day survival rates between patients who had received chest compression-only resuscitation and those who were administered CPR with mouth resuscitation.
