The Royal Pharmaceutical Society has announced that people working in pharmacy jobs will not need to pay professional body fees in January or February next year.
According to the Pharmaceutical Journal, the organisation took the decision in order to alleviate the financial burden on pharmacists around Christmas and the new year.
Patrick Stubbs, director of marketing and membership at the society, told the publication that its members had previously stated that they do not like paying fees at this time of year.
The payment deadline has now been moved to March in 2011, he explained.
"We are also trying to separate [society] payments from the General Pharmaceutical Council payment date," Mr Stubbs added.
In addition to moving the payment date, the body also intends to offer people working in pharmacy jobs greater flexibility about how they pay their fees.
Quarterly and monthly instalment options will be made available, as well as the choice to make a single lump sum payment.
Earlier this month, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society called on its members to engage in a consultation process about what they want from supervision within the industry.
