Obesity 'linked to rise in womb cancer cases'

Dieticians could help tackle the problem of a rising number of cases of womb cancer due to women being overweight or obese.
Jessica Harris, health information officer for Cancer Research UK, explained that overweight women account for approximately 23 to 50 per cent of womb cancer cases.
This is an area where those working in a dietician job could help by offering advice that prevents women from putting on too much weight.
Ms Harris pointed out that women can do something to help: "By keeping a healthy weight, particularly once you've been through the menopause, but generally throughout life, they can really reduce the risk of developing the disease."
Her comments come after Cancer Research UK released a study earlier this week which revealed that the number of women developing womb cancer has increased significantly over the past 35 years.
In 1975, 13 in every 100,000 women were diagnosed with womb cancer, whereas now the rate has risen to more than 19 women in every 100,000.
