Newborn Hearing Screening Programme helps girl

A girl who was born profoundly deaf has benefited from the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme.
Medics discovered Megan Bride's problem through the testing, which was launched by Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHT Trust seven years ago, thisisbeverleylocal.co.uk reports.
She was fitted with two cochlear implants, which improve hearing by electrically stimulating the auditory nerve.
However, in January of this year, Megan lost her hearing again and doctors could not understand why.
She has since been fitted with new implants.
According to the youngster's mother, Kelly Bride, she dealt with her deafness well.
She added: "We were devastated when Megan lost her hearing. But she did not complain once and none of this has fazed her."
Under the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme, all new parents are offered the opportunity to have their baby's ears tested within the first few weeks of life.
