ODPs to be assisted by robots

A range of medical professionals, including operating department practitioners (ODPs), in a Scottish hospital are to be assisted by robots.
The Forth Valley Royal Hospital - which is run by a health board that controls a £421 million annual budget - is to use a fleet of the devices to carry out routine tasks.
Currently undergoing final tests, the technology is expected to be available when the medical centre opens in August.
The robots will have their own dedicated network of corridors underneath the facility and they will perform a range of tasks, including cleaning operating theatre floors.
According to NHS Forth Valley chairman Ian Mullen, the innovative approach extends throughout the hospital, which has many design features to improve the lives of both patients and staff.
He added: "You'll have the robots that do dirty tasks - so they may take dirty linen or clinical waste away - and you'll have robots that do clean tasks, such as bringing meals ... to patients."
