Neglect of centre that should have housed phlebotomy services criticised

Criticism has been levelled at those in charge of a health facility that was extended to house a number of additional medical professionals, including some with phlebotomy jobs.
The Dipple Medical Centre in Wickford was enlarged last year so that it could be used for extra services such as blood tests, the Essex Echo reports.
However, the new section has remained empty for nearly a year and this has angered local people.
According to a 45-year-old woman who has been a patient at the centre for over ten years, the development was a "complete waste of money" because it is not being utilised.
She added that she has spoken to a few fellow users of the centre who have expressed annoyance over the issue.
Responding to the remarks, Tom Abell, acting director of commissioning for NHS South West Essex - which operates with an annual budget of around £600 million - said the organisation was in support of the extension.
He added that the trust is currently working with GPs to review a range of services that could run from the facility.
