ODPs to begin work in fully digital theatres

A number of people with jobs as operating department practitioners (ODPs) are to begin working in facilities that are entirely digital.
Vale Hospital has had technology produced by Smith & Nephew installed, Private Healthcare UK reports.
Two theatres in the medical facility have benefited from the move and staff are to start using them on June 1st.
The step was taken in a bid to improve efficiency and it is hoped that patients and the surgical team will benefit.
One of the features of the modern operating room is that it can enable high-quality video signals to be sent within the theatres and around the hospital in real time.
Commenting on another aspect of the development, consultant general surgeon Tim Havard said: "The high-definition picture quality will be of great benefit and allow for complex surgery to be carried out far easier."
The hospital is run by Vale Healthcare, which was formed in November 2007 when the founders of Vale Clinic entered into a joint venture with Nuffield Health.
