Refer an Audiologist
Wednesday 26th May 2010
A professional audiologist has initiated a project designed to challenge the stigma associated with wearing hearing aids.
Kate Cross works at a Nuffield Health Hospital, which is one of a network of 200 such facilities located around the country.
She lost her hearing when she was a child and has been reliant on sound devices ever since.
In a bid to make donning the items less of a chore, she has created a range of innovative hearing aid accessories, which are due to go on sale soon.
Ms Cross remarked: "Hearrings can customise an existing hearing aid and they can be interchanged with different colours to match an outfit."
Initially, it will probably be used by mainly women, but a line for children and one for men are to be set up in the future, she added.
The medical expert sometimes uses the items herself, she went on to note.
