University gets new radiography equipment

People training to begin radiography jobs at a higher education institution in the north of England are to have access to new machines.
The University of Cumbria is to have state-of-the-art devices installed thanks in part to funding provided by the North West Strategic Health Authority, England's Northwest reports.
Costing £2 million, the technology is to be located at the Fusehill Street and Lancaster campuses.
Undergraduates will get to use four computer-linked X-ray rooms for simulated training.
Commenting on the development, Phil Harris, head of the School of Medical Imaging Sciences at the University of Cumbria, said it "will benefit the local community enormously".
The institution - which was formed in August 2007 following an amalgamation of St Martin’s College, the Cumbria Institute of the Arts and the Cumbrian campuses of the University of Central Lancashire - will open the new facilities in September.
It claims its students will have access to equipment unrivalled elsewhere in the UK.
