OPDs present for theatre showing

People with jobs as operation department practitioners (OPDs) were among those present recently when a theatre opened its doors to a reporter.
Spire Cheshire Hospital allowed a journalist from the Warrington Guardian into the room to witness a number of procedures.
Two of the operations were arthroscopies, which are intended as a means of examining knee joints with a camera, while the other involved treatment on a shoulder condition.
The importance of hygiene was stressed by the medical professionals conducting the operations.
Consultant orthopaedic surgeon Paul Sherry said: "Infection control is our priority. A clean surgery minimises the risk of anything going wrong. Patients depend on us to be meticulous."
Among the team present in the room was OPD Vicky Weightman, as well as her mother Cecilia, who is the theatre manager.
