Refer an Cardiac Physiologist
Friday 7th May 2010
Individuals who suffer from stress are more likely to need the services of cardiac physiologists.
This is according to Stephen Bevan, managing director of the Work Foundation, who noted that such people are more prone to have coronary heart disease and hypertension.
His comments follow the release of research conducted by scientists in Denmark, who discovered women who experienced too much stress were 25 per cent more likely to have cardiac problems.
The study was published in Occupational and Environmental Medicine and was based on an analysis of 12,116 female nurses.
Work pressure that is too high is a significant risk factor for ischaemic heart disease in younger female employees, it found.
Mr Bevan noted that it is not always easy to identify causes of anxiety.
He stated: "The way pressure affects people differs between individuals. What some find stressful, others find energising, so it isn't possible to generalise about the causes or cures for stress."
