Pharmacy jobs may be created in Somerset

A number of pharmacy jobs may be created in north Somerset, it has been revealed.
If plans go ahead for a new GP centre, there will be an adjoining medication dispensary service as well, the Weston & Somerset Mercury reports.
NHS North Somerset, which was established in April 2002 and provides services to around 199,000 people, has drawn up proposals for the development of a facility.
The organisation is awaiting the green light from North Somerset Council before it can begin work.
A spokesman for developer GPI, which would be involved in the project, said: "This area was identified by Lord Darzi, who was appointed by the Department of Health, as being in the top 25 per cent of the most under-doctored areas in England."
He added that although NHS North Somerset has considered expanding existing surgeries, it has decided building a new one is the most practical option available to it.
