A new unit has successfully begun tests on disabled female patients.
The new Breast Test Wales unit, which is described as the first of its kind in the UK, was launched earlier this year.
It provides wheelchair access into the radiography area, meaning patients with disabilities can be screened more easily for breast cancer.
The unit has been set up in the Bridgend Leisure Centre car park and the turnout from female patients due to be tested was 80 per cent, which was greater than had been anticipated.
Head of radiography at Breast Test Wales Chris Tinkler said: "We will be using this experience to make sure the service is improved in the future but we are delighted that the screening went so well."
Established in 1988, the organisation operates ten mobile units across Wales to support centres in Cardiff, Swansea and Llandudno.
They visit more than 100 sites in every three-year round of screening.
