Campaign underway to save health centre

A campaign is currently underway to save a health facility that provides a range of services, including podiatry.
The Finsbury Health Centre was built in 1938 and was a pioneering design celebrated by many local people, the Guardian reports.
However, new proposals may see the construction sold to developers, a move which has angered some.
Campaigners suggest that the Grade-1 listed building should be saved from the threat of closure.
In contrast, NHS Islington - which assumed its current name in December 2008 and currently employs around 900 members of staff - says the £9.1 million needed to refurbish the site would be better spent on medical professionals and services housed in more "appropriate" buildings.
One of those against plans to close the facility is John Allan, director of Avanti Architects. The company was responsible for fixing part of the outer wall of the centre in the 1990s.
He said: "It's perfectly viable both to repair and restore and to modify."
