Refer an Cardiac Physiologist
Wednesday 7th April 2010
A comedian from Bristol has been involved in raising money for cardiac equipment, as well as other facilities.
Justin Lee Collins has launched a new charity called Shine Together, which he is hoping will collect at least £1 million a year for medical purposes, the BBC reports.
The TV and radio personality - who has also had experience on the stand-up circuit, appearing at such events as the Edinburgh Festival - is looking to support patients and the families at Frenchay and Southmead hospitals.
Head of fundraising at the new organisation Trevor Reid said: "Obviously the services which are there are second-to-none anyway but this is about [giving] access to a particular piece of equipment, which might cost lots of money, or a particular service."
Shine Together is already involved in generating funds for cardiac rehab, as well as for renal and neurology services and a milk bank for neo-natal babies.
