Operation department practitioners to get new facility

People with operation department practitioner jobs at Blackpool Victoria Hospital are one step closer to beginning work in a new facility.
The main chiller unit has been lifted on to the roof of the four-storey development which will make up the new surgical unit, the Blackpool Gazette reports.
Set to cost a total of £40 million, the new area is due to be completed by autumn next year.
Commenting on the latest development, Dennis Molloy, project manager with Laing O'Rourke - which is constructing the building - said: "The chiller unit will provide an efficient, low-carbon cooling system for important clinical and patient areas of the new surgical unit and marks a significant point in the development of the project."
Meanwhile, Robert Bell, director of facilities and estates at the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - an organisation that serves 330,000 people - said the addition of the new cooling system is a significant benchmark of progress.
