Liverpool hospital development confirmed by government

Hospital doctor jobs may soon be created in the north-west, as the government has confirmed plans to invest in Royal Liverpool Hospital.
Health secretary Andy Burnham visited the site to announce a £451 million rebuild scheme has been approved, the Liverpool Echo reports.
The politician explained that the facility is now out of date, but the cash represents an investment in the future that could open up a number of career opportunities.
In addition to describing the redevelopment as a long-standing aim, Mr Burnham was quoted as saying: "The exciting plan is not just about providing the highest standard of healthcare facilities, but also is a partnership with Liverpool University and the pharmaceutical industry, bringing jobs to the city."
Last month, the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust produced pictures of how a new facility would look, with project director Helen Jackson explaining that patients, hospital doctors and other staff have been involved with the design.
