Operating department practitioners in Carlisle 'may get access to new facility'

People with operating department practitioner jobs in Carlisle may soon have access to a new facility.
According to local paper the News & Star, a building owned by NorthStar Capital Projects is being offered to local NHS bosses free of rent for a year.
The firm - which is a property development and project management company with operations in Europe, China and the US - built a two-storey surgical unit next to the Cumberland Infirmary two years ago.
However, since this time the centre has remained empty.
Commenting on the enterprise's decision to offer the operating department, NorthStar director Ian Holmes said: "We are willing to give it to the trust free of rent for 12 months and then review the arrangement."
As well as a theatre, the facility houses several consulting and recovery rooms and individual wards sufficient to house five day-case patients.
According to its owners, the building could also be extended if this was required.
