Pharmacy begins selling cervical cancer tests

A pharmacy has begun selling tests which can check for the early signs of cervical cancer.
Online medication provider DrThom is providing the kits for £115, which women can use at home without needing help from a medical professional.
It is hoped that the new product will encourage certain groups of females who may otherwise miss out to check themselves for human papilloma viruses (HPV).
While HPV is common, some forms of it can cause changes in the cells of the cervix and these cells have an increased risk of becoming cancerous.
Those backing the sale of the tests online hope that it will mean more women who would otherwise claim to be too busy - and those aged under 25 who are not eligible for free NHS screening - will be tested.
However, clinical consultant Anne Szarewski raised concerns.
She said: "In young people, everyone is going to test positive. The rate of HPV is high but it's transient ... it comes and goes."
