Fundraising appeal 'to benefit occupational therapy'

Occupational therapy at the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre in Salisbury District Hospital may be boosted thanks to a fundraising appeal.
The Southern Spinal Injuries Trust(SSIT) - which used to be known as the Salisbury Spinal Injuries Trust but changed its name in January 2008 - is seeking to generate money to create a new garden, the Salisbury Journal reports.
A total of £100,000 is the goal of the project and, if it is successful, a specially-designed outdoors area will be created to benefit patients with spinal cord problems.
The produce grown in the area will be used in cookery sessions as part of the centre's occupational therapy programme.
Commenting on the initiative, SSIT trustee David Chapple said: "We hope the garden will become a place of sanctuary for patients and that it will help them develop new skills."
He also noted that there are currently limited recreational facilities available.
