Hospital issued hygiene warning

A hospital near Cardiff has been issued with a warning after a spot check identified problems with cleanliness.
The BBC reports that Welsh health minister Edwina Hart has demanded "swift action" at Llandough Hospital following investigations by the Healthcare Inspectorate Wales.
A refurbishment is currently being carried out at the site, but the report noted that the standard of cleanliness was poor and dust levels were high following checks of operating theatres and two wards for elderly patients.
The Cardiff and Vale University Health Board - which employs around 13,500 staff and serves 500,000 people - stated that it will be addressing the issues "as soon as possible".
And a spokesman for the Welsh Assembly Government noted that Ms Hart is hoping the board gives careful consideration to the findings.
"The minister has warned the NHS that the spot checks will continue as we continue to improve cleanliness and infection control," he added.
