ODPs begin work in new facility

People with jobs as operating department practitioners (ODPs) have begun working in new facilities at the Queen Alexandra Hospital.
A surgical theatre was created at the medical centre thanks to donations from the Rocky Appeal charity fund.
Coordinator of the effort Mick Lyons said: "This is a big day for the hospital as these theatres will be a lasting legacy for future generations."
He added that now two of the theatres have been seen in action, it has raised the impetus for the rest of the money to be generated to complete the initiative.
Gunilla Beavis was the first patient to be treated in the facilities.
The 60-year-went entered the hospital - which went through a major redevelopment last year to create a modern centre that is 'fit for purpose' - to have digital keyhole surgery to remove a cancerous tumour on her oesophagus.
She said she was happy to be being treated there.
