Operating department practitioners using new training facility

A group of people training to be operating department practitioners in Yorkshire are making use of a new facility.
In an old lecture theatre located at Coventry University, a hi-tech learning room has been created, the Coventry Telegraph reports.
According to the publication, the resource is the only one of its kind in the country and it contains an operating table, anaesthetic machine, specialist sinks and a variety of instruments.
It is designed to provide trainees with the chance to prepare for the pressurised environment of a surgical theatre before they take part in real-life situations.
Louise Price, course director at Coventry University - which is based in the city centre and specialises in sectors such as health, law and the media - described the facility as "innovative".
She added: "It makes [students] more relaxed and helps them learn the basics so they can hit the ground running when they go into a real operating theatre."
