New agreement 'may boost biomedical science'

A number of people with biomedical science jobs in Scotland are to be affected by a new deal signed between Dundee University and NHS Tayside.
The agreement is intended to encourage close collaboration between researchers operating at the two organisations and it is part of the Scottish Academic Health Science Collaboration.
Under the terms of the plans, a new Tayside Academic Health Sciences Centre will be established.
Commenting on the development, Professor Tony Wells, chief executive of NHS Tayside - which provides healthcare services for around 388,780 people - said it will benefit patients and will lead to the professional development of staff.
He added: "We very much welcome the launch of this new collaboration, which will allow us to build on the excellent working relationship we have with the university."
Meanwhile, dean of Dundee University's school of medicine Professor John Connell noted that the institution has a long shared relationship with NHS Tayside.
