Biomedical jobs to be created in Blackburn

Nearly 40 biomedical jobs are set to be made available in Blackburn, as a health manufacturer is to establish a presence there.
The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) has awarded a £290,000 grant to French firm Gosselin, which is investing around £2 million in the move.
Mark Hughes, executive director of economic development at the NWDA, welcomed the arrival of Gosselin, which he noted has been expanding quickly since the 1960s.
"Establishing a UK base within east Lancashire will contribute towards Blackburn's vision for a biomedical cluster, strengthening supply linkages within the region as a result of this important investment," he added.
Thierry Van Twembeke, managing director of Gosselin, explained that his firm is aiming to increase its market share and add to global awareness of the brand.
The NWDA is one of nine such organisations in England and was set up by the government in 2009, with the aim of improving life and economic prosperity.
