Pharmacists in Hartlepool offer range of health checks

A number of people with pharmacy jobs in Hartlepool are offering customers health checks.
According to reports in the Hartlepool Mail, West View Pharmacy is providing patients aged between 40 and 74 with free heart assessments.
The service is available to those have not already had such a check on the NHS and who have no existing cardiovascular complications.
Chris Briddon from NHS Hartlepool - which serves a population of around 365,000 - noted that conditions such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes or kidney disease can often be prevented even if people have a history of them in their families.
He added: "Staff at the participating pharmacies are trained to provide practical advice to people to help them understand their individual level of risk."
They can then encourage patients to plan simple steps and make changes to their lifestyles, which could prevent ill health from developing in the future, he claimed.
