Hospital in Essex stays closed due to norovirus

A medical centre located in Essex is remaining closed to visitors to stop the spread of norovirus.
The condition, which the NHS suggests affects between 600,000 and one million people in the UK each year, is part of a group of viruses that are the most common cause of gastroenteritis in the country and is also referred to as the 'winter vomiting bug'.
According to the BBC, Ward B12 at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford is staying shut to all new admissions.
The facility is reviewing the situation on a daily basis, the news provider suggested.
It went on to advise that patients not affected by norovirus should still attend appointments and staff will contact individuals who are due to have surgery at the hospital.
Norovirus can be spread through contact with infected people or surfaces and objects that are contaminated.
It can also be contracted via the ingestion of food or water.
