Man launches cardiac fundraising campaign

A man from Lincolnshire has launched a campaign to raise money for cardiac care.
Big Red Heart Appeal co-ordinator Ron Kitching is hoping the initiative will succeed in generating up to £2 million over the course of the next two years.
The 77-year-old has himself benefited from healthcare services, having suffered a heart attack and had a quadruple bypass, the Grimsby Telegraph reports.
He described the quality of his treatment as "fantastic" and is keen to give something back to the community.
The proceeds of his endeavours and the work of others at the Big Red Heart Appeal will go towards funding a range of heart treatment services.
Among them is a catheter lab close to all technical support staff, a coronary care unit, dedicated step down beds with telemetry and an area to admit and prepare elective cases.
In addition, a new recovery room that would reduce waiting list pressures is planned.
