Podiatrist meets Slumdog stars

A medical worker from Bury has met the stars of Danny Boyle's Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire on a trip to the Indian slums.
Martyn Sherman, who works as a podiatrist at the Healthy Feet Clinic in the town, regularly makes visits to the economically-deprived area to help children needing treatment around Goa.
According to the Bury Times, the healthcare professional took the opportunity to visit Rubina Ali and Ayush Mahesh Khedekar, who played the two young characters in the film, while passing through the slums in Mumbai.
Mr Sherman told the newspaper: "I really liked the film, so I thought I would find out where the children lived. I recognised them straight away. Rubina lived in the slum. Ayush lived in a middle-class area and spoke perfect English."
The multi-award winning film follows the story of Jamal Malik, an 18-year-old from the slums of India, who is arrested by the police after being accused of cheating on the country's version of gameshow Who Wants to be a Millionaire?
