New X-ray machine introduced to speed up breast cancer diagnosis

A new radiography device has been installed in a Fife hospital to help medical professionals detect breast cancer quicker.
The X-ray machine has been fitted in Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline and allows biopsy samples to be tested immediately in the operating theatre.
This means less time is wasted by samples being transported around the medical centre to be analysed.
Commenting on the development, health secretary in Scotland Nicola Sturgeon said it is "good news" for patients.
She added: "Our NHS is constantly improving its cancer treatments to offer the best quality care as quickly, safely and close to home as possible."
According to Ms Sturgeon - who is the MP for Glasgow Govan - the new machine acts as a reminder that a more efficient NHS helps patients.
The politician met specialist breast cancer care staff who use the equipment during a recent visit to the medical centre following a meeting with the Association for International Cancer Research.
