Phlebotomy service receives praise

A new phlebotomy service in Portsmouth has received praise from patients who have used it.
According to reports in the Portsmouth News, the appointment-based set-up being run at GP surgeries in the area has been deemed satisfactory by 100 per cent of those who have used it.
Changes were made to blood testing provisions operated by Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust in the summer last year.
The organisation - which runs a number of medical centres, including Alexandra Hospital and St Mary's Hospital - changed its drop-in service into one in which patients have to make appointments and can be tested at their local GP surgeries.
Responding to the findings of the survey, director of capital funding for NHS Hampshire Inger Hebden said they were "great news".
However, she went on to say: "It is important we regularly review the service provided so patient satisfaction surveys will be carried out every few months."
