Donation to be used to help fund speech therapy role

A new speech therapy role is to be partially funded at the Royal Preston Hospital by money raised by local people.
Each year, a sheltered housing scheme based in the area picks a good cause to generate money for and, this year, it was the turn of Macmillan Cancer, 24dash reports.
Volunteer for the organisation Tony Bonser travelled to meet those responsible for the initiative and received a cheque for £600.
He revealed that the money is going towards funding a speech therapist at the hospital.
Mr Bonser remarked: "On behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support I'd like to say a huge thank you to the residents of Tuson House for raising this fantastic sum."
He pointed out that all the work done by Macmillan is a result of voluntary contributions like this.
Macmillan Cancer aims to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. It notes that one in three people in the UK will suffer from the disease at some stage in their lives.
