Bristol is 'centre of excellence' for cardiac operations

The city of Bristol has been named a 'centre of excellence' thanks to its investment into the improvement of its cardiac surgery services.
NHS hospitals in the region have been recognised for their commitment to heart healthcare, with the Bristol Royal Infirmary recently opening new cardiac surgery facilities, and private options have also been praised.
Spire Bristol Hospital became England's first 'choose-and-book' establishment, a move which was backed by the NHS and which means that anyone in the UK can take advantage of its top-rated heart surgery, Privatehealth.com reports.
Rob Anderson, director of Spire Bristol Hospital, said: "Our superb cardiac surgery outcomes, exceptionally low infection rates and ability to provide rapid appointments, enable us to reinforce NHS delivery to heart patients."
Spire currently owns 36 private hospitals across the UK and has been running for 25 years, treating over 930,000 patients annually with some of the country's most experienced surgeons and health specialists.
