Speech and language therapist wins national prize

A speech and language therapist currently based in Preston has been awarded a national prize.
Hannah Bibby received the Tavistock Trust for Aphasia Student Prize 2009 for her work in the field over four years at the university college in Derriford, the Herald reports.
She was given the accolade as a result of a piece of work she did for a client during her speech and language therapy degree course at Marjon - which offers a range of courses, including foundation degrees and progression courses.
Ms Bibby helped a patient who had suffered a stroke.
"He had aphasia so I had to think of ways around the problem and help him access society. I later did a presentation on my work with him - and it was filmed and the trust saw the film."
She added that she was shocked and honoured to discover she had been selected for the award.
