Pharmacist receives recognition for contribution to the profession

A man who works as a pharmacist in South Tyneside has had his achievements over his professional career recognised.
David Carter from Carters Chemist, which has been run by his family for three generations, has been made a fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, the Shields Gazette reports.
The organisation is a professional body for pharmacists and also acts as a regulatory body for those with jobs in the sector.
Commenting on the development, Mr Carter said his late father would have been proud.
He received the honour for his outstanding contribution to the pharmacy, which was first opened in 1948.
The medical professional remarked: "The award is made on the recommendation of peers and I am humbled to think that so many of my colleagues have written in on my behalf to recommend me for this honour."
He added that he feels honoured to get the recognition and the fellowship means a great deal to him.
