MP to open new state-of-the-art pharmacy

A new state-of-the-art pharmacy which has been built at Royal Hallamshire Hospital is to be opened by a local politician.
Heeley MP Meg Munn is heading to the facility today (December 18th) to celebrate its launch.
Costing £900,000, the revamp incorporates an automated dispensing system known as 'ron-o-matic', which is intended to improve turnaround times for patients' prescriptions.
It is hoped that the device will also reduce the risk of dispensing errors and free up staff to perform more ward-based patient care.
In addition, nursing staff will be able to track the progress of their patients' prescriptions.
The pharmacy will be managed by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which employs more than 13,500 people and has an annual turnover of around £735 million.
Chief pharmacist at the organisation Damian Child said: "The new pharmacy allows us to provide an even faster and more efficient service for our patients.
"The clinical trials dispensary area has also improved to support the Trust Research and Development programme."
