Podiatrists to work in new medical centre

Podiatrist jobs may be created in the West Midlands town of Tipton over the next two years as Sandwell Primary Care Trust (PCT) builds the new Glebefields Neighbourhood Health Centre.
Expected to be finished by mid-2011, the £6.5 million facility will offer foot health services, as well as provide the local community with care in a number of different areas.
Commenting on the building, deputy director of commissioning at the local primary care trust Jon Dicken remarked: "This is great news for the people of Tipton and continues the primary care trust's plans for the development of services and facilities across Sandwell for the benefit of local people."
Construction of the development is set to begin next month, with Sandwell LIFTCo working alongside the PCT on the project.
The health centre will join 63 doctor surgeries, 49 opticians, 76 pharmacies and 44 dental surgeries among the services offered by Sandwell PCT to the 320,000 people in the local area.
