A medical worker from Victoria Infirmary has been celebrating her success at completing a qualification in radiography.
Pat Meikle used to perform the role of auxiliary nurse and had helped in the X-ray department of the hospital - which is based in Glasgow and has around 370 beds.
After working for the NHS for three decades, she decided to undergo the training and signed up for a Radiography Practitioner Assistant Course at Stow College.
Now, she is able to take on more responsibilities and can perform X-rays, as well as checking equipment is safe to use.
Commenting on her experience, she said: "After the initial excitement of being accepted onto the course, I was a bit nervous. I hadn't been in education for 30 years and had left school with no qualifications."
Ms Meikle added that the fact that her children are now older was one of the factors that enabled her to undertake the training.
