Refer an Cardiac Physiologist
Monday 7th December 2009
A new facility which is to open in Lancashire could help to save the lives of local patients, a cardiac physiologist has claimed.
Commenting on the Royal Blackburn Hospital's new cardiac catheter laboratory, which is set to open in April, Dr Ravi Singh said people will benefit from being able to have more complicated procedures in the town.
He stated: "At the moment patients from Pendle, in particular, have to face very long journeys, which can only increase their anxiety."
Having the new facilities on site at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, which is located on Haslingden Road, will also mean that the most urgent patients can have procedures quickly after they begin suffering from chest pains, he added.
According to Dr Singh, the new facility is a "very exciting development".
In order to provide support at the lab, three new staff nurses, a number of extra technicians and a radiographer have been appointed.
