Refer an Operating Department Practitioner
Thursday 3rd December 2009
An author who works alongside operation department practitioners has begun penning her latest tome.
Sue Barnes was performing the role of an operating theatre nurse for the last few weeks and, in her spare time, has been writing her second book, Scarborough Today reports.
The 60-year-old says she got her inspiration for the tale by working with unconscious patients.
She said: "During my career I've looked after a lot of comatose patients. I would wonder 'where is the spark that is you?'".
Her literary offering is based on a bus driver whose vehicle was involved in an explosion in Bristol more than a decade ago.
Ms Barnes' first book - which is called Colandra's Quest - is due to be published next week.
Recently, it was announced that people with operation department practitioner jobs at the Oxford Cancer Centre will be working with a new robotic device intended for use on patients having keyhole surgery.
