Pharmacy recognised at awards ceremony

A pharmacy in Nefyn, north Wales has picked up a prestigious accolade at the 2009 Alliance Healthcare Pharmacy Awards in London's Mayfair.
According to Chemist+Druggist, RJ Jones Pharmacy in Pwllheli was named pharmacy of the year at the Grosvenor House Hotel ceremony, which was designed to "celebrate the delivery of excellence and innovation in the pharmaceutical industry" and reward those who have "excelled".
William Llyr Hughes picked up the prize on behalf of his firm, joining fellow awards recipient Suketu Patel of Widnes Late Night Pharmacy and representatives from Reckitt Benckiser, Teva UK and GSK Pharmaceuticals, which also secured gongs.
Trophies were given across a total of 12 categories, with some of the winners being voted for by pharmacists, including generics manufacturer of the year, surgical manufacturer of the year and health and beauty manufacturer of the year.
An innovation in hospital pharmacy supply chain award was also presented over the course of the evening.
