Appeal of UK 'increasing among eastern European workers'

The appeal of Britain as a place to live and work is rising, it has been suggested.
According to an article in the Financial Times (FT), positive signs concerning the country's economy are leading to an increase in immigration, with those seeking anatomical pathology jobs potentially among those making the journey to the UK.
The publication noted that, in 2008, there was a "flood" of Polish migrants leaving Britain to return to their homelands.
During the 12-month period, there was also a decline in work permit applications as unemployment rose due to the recession, it pointed out.
The FT made its comments following the release of figures produced by the Home Office, which showed that the number of people from eastern European nations attempting to gain employment under the worker registration totalled 29,085 during the third quarter of this year.
This was an increase on the 28,060 recorded during the previous three months.
