Black Country hospital hygiene concerns 'addressed'

Concerns about hospital hygiene at one West Midlands facility have been alleviated, a new report has suggested.
The Care Quality Commission, the independent health and social care regulator, conducted an inspection of Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley and found "no evidence" of regulation breaches with regards to protecting people from infection, the Express & Star reports.
This followed an earlier audit in which unclean equipment and bloodstains were discovered, leading to several hundred mattresses needing to be replaced.
Chief executive at the Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Trust Paula Clark stated that her organisation will continue to work hard to ensure standards are maintained and claimed to be happy with the report's results.
Internal audits are now carried out on a six-monthly basis, while matrons are said to inspect mattresses approximately every four weeks.
The Dudley Group trust cares for around 400,000 local people and Russells Hall has 722 inpatient beds in total.
