Pharmacists welcome decriminalisation plan

Pharmacists in Britain have welcomed a decision to decriminalise one-off errors in dispensing.
Those seeking pharmacy jobs may be pleased to learn that new guidelines will be produced by the Crown Prosecution Service in early 2010 to this effect.
According to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, a recent letter to the House of Commons pharmacy group from chief pharmaceutical officer Dr Keith Ridge has confirmed the changes and is the culmination of a campaign for a change in "this inappropriate law".
President of the organisation Steve Churton said he was "delighted" by the news and thanked supporters of the push, adding that he has been "truly heartened by the way in which pharmacists have rallied together to fight this cause".
The announcement follows a recent prediction by Chemist + Druggist that new guidance for supply chains could help to address stock shortages within the pharmaceutical industry and better meet the needs of patients.
