Those working in hospital doctor jobs across England look set to benefit from a new scheme set for roll-out in 2010.
Summary Care Records (SCRs) are summaries of key information, such as allergies, that are accessible to those in hospital doctor jobs and other medical professionals in an electronic format.
Already being introduced in London, hospital doctors who have started using SCRs benefit from having crucial information easily accessible when time is critical, said the Department of Health (DoH).
NHS London chief executive Ruth Carnall noted that the scheme has demonstrated "clear benefits" to hospital doctors and others who used it in the capital, particularly for those who deliver emergency care.
In the three months to September 30th this year, some 3.4 million people attended A&E departments across the country.
According to the DoH, patients for whom the SCR scheme will have particular advantages are the elderly and vulnerable, as well as those who do not speak English as a first language.
