Funds raised for Dorset baby unit

Parents of Charlie West, a baby battling for his life in the special care baby unit (SCBU) at Dorset County Hospital, have raised over £4,000 for the facility.
Tracey Edwards and Pete West wanted to give something back to the SCBU - which may provide access to a newborn hearing screener - for helping to keep their son alive, Bridport News reported.
The amount raised at Charlie's Charity Night, Lyme Regis Golf Club, was twice as much as the parents were hoping for and guest visitor Charlie even managed to make a brief appearance.
Ms Edwards told the paper: "SCBU was absolutely amazing. The staff were very dedicated and we couldn't have asked for better care. He wouldn't have lived and I wouldn't have either if it wasn't for Dorset hospital."
The five-month-old baby was born nearly three months prematurely weighing 1lb and 11ozs and has been fighting lung, bowel and stomach infections since.
Dorset County Hospital was established in 1991, with refurbishment completed in 1997.
