Junior hospital doctors get new training machinery

Those working in junior hospital doctor jobs at Royal Berkshire Hospital are now benefiting from new surgery simulation equipment.
The device is only the second of its kind in the country and is currently helping trainee doctors gain better insight into ear, nose and throat surgery (ENT), the Reading Post reported.
Consultant ENT surgeon Rory Herdman remarked that the development was a great step forward and expressed his and his colleagues' delight at having one at the trust.
He said: "The fantastic thing about this machine is that you can load a patient's CT (computerised tomography) scans into it so the procedure is a practice of the actual patient," adding that this enabled students to rehearse the exact operation before going into theatre.
Use of the equipment is expected to extend to all doctors and nurses in the medical institution next year.
The Royal Berkshire Hospital is one of the largest trusts in the country and employs 4,000 staff.
